The Huntington Summer Arts Festival is back and even longer than last year. Offering two months of performances including theater, music, dance and so much movie. There is nothing like being able to enjoy live entertainment while also taking in the fantastic weather and only minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Huntington. Cheers to free summer fun - see you at Heckscher Park - and don't forget to bring a blanket or a chair!

Huntington Summer Arts Festival performance

A Little History

The Huntington Summer Arts Festival brings a superb roster of exciting performing artists to Heckscher Park each year. Artists and ensembles include award winning, world-class talent in music, dance and theatre from around the globe, as well as the finest performing arts groups from Huntington and Long Island.

The Festival schedule is eagerly awaited by many including younger views - there are free shows geared towards kids and younger viewers like Dino Safari Adventure.

The creation as well as the popularity of the festival was not imaginable over forty years ago when a plywood stage at Heckscher Museum was constructed to celebrate the summer. Local amateur performers took to the stage and soon these concerts became popular. The desire for a better space to hold performances called for the construction in 1979 of the band shell. The band shell was built by the Town of Huntington with the support of Harry & Sandy Chapin. It was later renamed in Harry Chapin's honor.

All performances are free, and there is no reserved seating, so visitors are encouraged to come early to get the best location. There are no seats but you can bring blankets or folding chairs to suit your comfort. (Don't forget to try one of Huntington's delicious restaurants or take out options before the show!)
