Biking on Long Island

Leisure July 25, 2026

Wheelie good places to bike!

Enjoy parks, trails and marked roadways throughout Long Island whether you enjoy a leisurely cycle, a long distance ride or a rugged adventure.

Remember to practice safe biking, including:

  • Wear an approved helmet for protection. In New York this is the law.
  • Obey all applicable traffic regulations, lights, signs and markings.
  • Keep to the right; ride with traffic, not against it. Ride single file.
  • Protect yourself at night with reflectors, headlight and taillight. Consider using additional lighting and reflective bands, vests and clothing to increase your visibility.

Additionally be mindful that each trail and trail condition may require specialized equipment.
