🌊 STORM SAFETY TIPS

Save this before a storm hits!

1. Know your flood risk
If you live near the water or in a low-lying area, check local coastal flood alerts and know where higher ground is.

2. Never drive through floodwater
“Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” Even seemingly shallow moving water can sweep away a vehicle or completely submerge a vehicle. 

3. Prepare for a power outage
Charge phones and backup batteries. Keep flashlights, extra batteries, water and nonperishable food on hand.

4. Stay away from downed wires & trees
High winds can bring down branches and power lines. Treat every downed wire as live and stay away.

5. Protect your home
Clear gutters and drains, secure outdoor furniture, and move valuables away from areas that could flood.

6. Use generators safely
Generators belong outside and away from windows and doors. Do not use generators in a garage or inside the home because of carbon monoxide risk.

7. Don't forget your pets
Bring pets inside and have food, water and medications ready in case you're stuck at home or need to leave.

8. Keep alerts ON
Monitor the National Weather Service and county emergency alerts for changing conditions and evacuation instructions.
